Meet your Schar Peer Academic Advisors
My name is Cato Abbot, and I am a Government and International Politics major within the Schar School, with a concentration in International Relations. I am an AmeriCorps alumni, where I spent ten months volunteering to do community service across the United States. I have studied abroad at Mason Korea, giving me valuable experience with the Global Education Office (GEO) in addition to an amazing semester in South Korea. I am likely pursuing a career in the federal government, ideally with the Department of State, Department of Defense, and the like. I am excited to be a peer advisor because I want to help everyone I can in this new, challenging world!
I am a Government and International Politics Major with a concentration in Comparative Politics. I transferred to Mason in spring 2019. Since transferring I have served as secretary for the Hispanic Student Association. This past winter, I participated in the Future of the United Nations and European Union study abroad program in Switzerland. I volunteer within the Latinx community by helping in campaigns, working with non-profit organization, and supporting first-gen students. As a Peer Advisor, I hope to guide students in their academic choices and support them in their college journey.
My name is Kavon Nowroozi and I am a senior Government and International Politics Major. I was drawn to serve as a peer advisor because as a transfer student, I know how helpful and reassuring it was to have access to great help regarding important class selections and general planning. I hope to be able to help other undergraduate students better navigate and shape their academic futures, and help make the process less stressful.
My name is Jenna Pan and I am a Government and International Politics major in the Honors College with a concentration in law, philosophy and governance. I have experience with summer research projects at Mason and am a part of the accelerated master’s program here at Mason in the International Commerce Policy program. I have been a peer advisor since we began the peer advising program in Fall 2019 and am looking forward to answering your questions about Schar and Mason!
