Thrust into the spotlight during the first impeachment of President Donald Trump, Congressman Adam Schiff, Chairman of the House intelligence committee, has been on the radar of the US Intelligence Community since joining the committee in 2007. On Thursday, February 25, Hayden Center senior fellow, and former acting director of CIA, Michael Morell goes face to face with the Chairman.
Join us as Michael discusses with Chairman Schiff how, after four years of executive branch politicizing and weaponizing intelligence, the IC can regain its credibility and standing with Congress and the American people. They will also examine how Congress can best support the IC as it faces traditional challenges while informing policymakers on rising issues such as global health, climate change, and domestic violent extremism.
Elected to Congress in 2001, Adam Schiff represents California’s 28th Congressional District, including large portions of Los Angeles County. He attended Stanford University and Harvard Law School and previously served as a federal prosecutor and State Senator. Appointed to the intelligence committee in 2007, he had served as Ranking Member, beginning in 2015, and has been Chairman since 2019. Congressman Schiff also led the House impeachment inquiry in President Donald Trump’s first impeachment and served as lead impeachment manager during the first Senate trial.
