Global health has risen to be a priority foreign policy issue, affecting international security and economic development in unprecedented ways. National governments, public-private partnerships, global institutions, private philanthropies, and others are interacting in new ways to respond to the world’s health challenges. This study provides insight into health governance at the regional level, an important aspect of the global system, through a multi-method case study of the Caribbean Community’s contribution to regional integration in health. The results of this study identify an unexpected source of influence in Caribbean health governance: the power of interpersonal networks.
