Biography
Penny Potter has more than 30 years of experience as a management consultant, leadership coach, and educator. She works primarily with NGO and federal agency leaders, who grapple with meaty challenges such as international development, health care, education, journalism, and democracy.
Potter is an alumna of the George Mason University Organizational Development and Knowledge Management graduate program, where she currently teaches the Foundations of Coaching course. She holds a PhD in human and organizational systems and received her coach training from Georgetown University. Potter serves on the board of the Graduate School Alliance for Education in Coaching (GSAEC) and is co-chair of the research committee.
As an instructor, her focus is on facilitating student’s development of scholar-practitioner skills. Students can expect a lot of support, along with the right amount of challenge:
“My primary objective as an educator is to help students learn how to learn, which will serve them well beyond their degree program. My classes are lively and include a lot of practice and feedback. No matter how tired you are when you come to class, you will leave energized and curious!”
