Schar Scholars Program Funding
The Schar Scholars program aims to foster the study of policy and government at George Mason University. Incoming freshman interested in government, political science, international relations, public policy, pre-law, and public administration are eligible for funding from the Schar Scholars program.
- Scholarships are between $1,000-$3,000 per year for four years.
- As part of the Schar School Virtual Learning Community (VLC) or Living/Learning Community (LLC), Schar Scholars engage in tailored programming and build community with fellow students and faculty in the Schar School.
- Schar Scholars who remain in good standing and who enroll in at least two Schar School classes each academic year (fall and/or spring terms) are eligible for renewal.
Schar Scholars funding is based upon a mix of merit and financial need so all students should complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FASFSA) to maximize their eligibility for grants, scholarships, work study, and need-based low-interest student loans.
