The Schar School combines prestige with practicality. Located just a few miles from Capitol Hill and surrounded by major players in national and international policy-making, students can immediately build a foundation for rewarding and impactful careers. A survey of 2018/2019 graduates found that 86% had confirmed post-graduate plans, such as a job or graduate school. Students begin building their careers on day one.
The Schar School has $800,000 in available student scholarship money. Incoming freshman are eligible for special scholarship funding through the Schar Scholars program.

The Global Politics Fellows and Nonprofit Fellows programs integrate an Arlington campus cohort experience with upper-level coursework, exclusive speakers and special events, and a D.C.-area internship. Students build their network and sharpen their professional skills as they gain expertise in their fields.

The Schar School’s Virtual Learning Community (VLC) enables students to build close relationships with one another and the Schar School faculty. Students take classes together, participate in events with faculty and outside speakers, engage in monthly discussion groups, and build a network of leaders committed to making a difference in the world.
Through the Bachelor-Accelerated Master’s (BAM) program, students may earn both the bachelor’s degree and a graduate degree in one of the Schar School’s six master’s program in 5 years, saving time and money.
Through the Undergraduate Research Assistant Program (URAP), students gain hands-on social science research experience alongside a faculty mentor on topics ranging from migration to Congressional polarization to China’s Grand Strategy.
Through Mason’s Patriot Pre-Law program, students receive advising and law school essay guidance from a Schar School professor who is a career lawyer. Students have access to the 3+3 program through the Scalia School of Law as well as Mason2Mason program which allows our students to skip the LSAT in seeking admission.
