You’re invited to attend a virtual sample lecture for prospective students to learn more about the Schar School of Policy and Government and our graduate programs.
Welcome to an introduction to the Middle East and North Africa (MENA)—this sample class will examine main issues relating to: the geography; brief history to set the context; political behavior and the types of governance; economics; society: people and culture. Students will travel “virtually” and discuss some of the main issues such as the youth bulge, status of economic opportunities and job creation, water & aridity challenges, rentier states: oil haves and oil have-nots, and uprisings, war, conflict and the future.
