Global Economic Policy Certificate

The Global Economic Policy Graduate Certificate educates students in the foundations of international economics and the analysis of global economic policies. Students learn the techniques of trade policy analysis; gain knowledge in the analysis of open-economy macroeconomics and international finance; and cover the fundamentals of artificial intelligence and machine learning technologies. Certificate graduates are able to analyze trade policy and international financial policy for agencies and organizations. 

Consisting of only five courses, this is an affordable and strategic investment in advancing your career by earning a credential from a highly ranked policy school, while obtaining critical knowledge on some of the most pressing international issues. This certificate can also be applied to a master's degree, offering students exceptional flexibility.

Certificate Program Requirements

Schar School certificate students take the same classes as our master's students, choosing from a wide selection of specialized electives taught by renowned faculty who bring real-world experience to the classroom. Students typically earn the certificate in one to one-and-a-half years on average, but with evening classes and a flexible part-time schedule, you can pursue the program at a pace that works for you. The certificate program is comprised of five courses (15 credits), which includes the following:

GCP 503: Macroeconomics Policy in the Global Economy
GCP 504: Microeconomics and Trade Policy or PUBP 720: Managerial Economics and Policy Analysis
GCP 501: Data Analysis in Global Political Economy or POGO 511: Statistical Methods for Policy Analysis
GCP 604: New Technologies in the Global Economy or GCP 605: Technology, Culture and Commerce

ELECTIVE COURSES (1 course | 3 credits)

Courses should be chosen in consultation with an advisor and approved in advance by the program director.
