National security policy begins with law. Former Deputy Director of the FBI Andrew McCabe will examine the legal framework that both empowers and restrains intelligence and military and law enforcement authorities in national security.

Professor Andrew McCabe currently teaches courses in national security and related topics. He was deputy director of the FBI from 2016-18 and currently serves as an intelligence analyst for CNN. He joins other distinguished faculty in the Schar School, including former CIA and NSA Director Michael V. Hayden; former Vice Chair of the National Intelligence Council Ellen Laipson; and many others encompassing a wide range of expertise.
