"We prepare students to be future leaders and managers who advance the public good. Our graduates have the drive to make a difference in the world by building upon the knowledge and experience they have gained."
Mark J. Rozell, Dean, Schar School of Policy and Government

Catherine Read, the first woman to serve as mayor of Fairfax City first heard the “clarion call” of politics when she took a course with what was then the Department of Public and International Affairs (now the Schar School of Policy and Government).

Several students from the Schar School of Policy and Government's learning communities, the Democracy Lab, and the Jurisprudence made the trip from George Mason University’s Fairfax Campus to visit the nation’s capital.

Located where policy happens—just six miles from the U.S. Capitol Building—the Schar School’s campuses are located in Arlington and Fairfax, Virginia. Students are connected to jobs, internships, networking, and experiences that can only be found in the Washington, D.C., area.
